Helping Families Heal Program

Recently SafeCare decided to incorporate the highly regarded Helping Families Heal Program into its suite of programs

OVERVIEW

In its previous iteration, SafeCare did not run any specific programs for Indigenous people, however, some Aboriginal people are known to have engaged with the organisation for treatment and support.

Over the last 14 years, SafeCare Clinical Director, Christabel Chamarette, has been working with a number of Aboriginal communities in WA’s Kimberley region, in particular with people in Halls Creek and Balgo. For many years this included visiting these communities for a week a month. More recently this has evolved into training and support of community support workers at Irra Yungi and other organisations as a means of transferring her expertise on to the next generation in these communities. Christabel’s experience in this area,  along with expert advice and appropriate personnel, will be used to inform the development and delivery of a comprehensive set of programs for Aboriginal people.
